Architecture Seminar – 29 September 2010 – Wanderers Club |
- Starting an Enterprise Architecture initiative using value creation as the selling point rather than just a business case.
- Where does Software Architecture fit between analysis and design?
- ArchiMate, the standard at The Open Group, provides an integration between domains together with architectural and visualization techniques.
How well is “Architecture” in its broader ICT sense, understood in your organization? Is it properly deployed and utilized from both a technical and business perspective? Knotion Consulting and Computer Society South Africa have joined forces to bring you an informative half-day seminar which will look into some of these aspects in more depth. Three exciting speakers, each a specialist in his field, will give seminar attendees numerous, thought-provoking insights into certain aspects of the worlds of Enterprise and Software Architecture.
Marius Snel, a Director at Knotion Consulting, will explore the option of starting an Enterprise Architecture initiative using value creation as the selling point rather than just a business case. Enterprise Architecture is a hot topic and the key question is how to show value from EA initiatives. The aim of this presentation is to define a model that will enable an organization to show value for setting up its EA initiative, as well as prove value on an ongoing basis.
Prof. Barry Dwolotzky of the Johannesburg Centre for Software Engineering (JCSE) at the University of the Witwatersrand will investigate the question: “Where does Software Architecture fit between analysis and design?” There is some confusion about where “architecture” fits in the software development lifecycle. Where is the boundary line between analysis and architecture on the one hand and between software architecture and design on the other? In his talk he will define “software architecture” and will attempt to highlight the key interfaces between architecture, analysis and design.
Mark Peters, a consultant and trainer from BiZZdesign in the Netherlands, will be talking on ArchiMate.
The language ArchiMate, the standard at The Open Group, provides an integration between domains together with architectural and visualization techniques. With these architectural and visualization techniques that map the connections and relationship between the varying domains, ArchiMate provides the enterprise architect with unique tools to support and improve the architectural process.
Computer Society South Africa members in good standing will receive a preferential rate, and the seminar will provide three continuing professional development (CPD) or life-long learning (LLL) points to CSSA members who complete and return the feedback form at the end of the seminar.
