Defining the value of your EA initiative |
|
Marius Snel presents at the Enterprise Architecture Practitioners Conference - Johannesburg 2009 – September 2009
Enterprise Architecture is a hot topic and the key question is how to show value from EA initiatives. The aim of the presentation is to define a model that will enable an organization to show value for setting up its EA initiative, as well as prove value on an ongoing basis.
Most organizations require a Business Case to prove the value of EA or start an EA initiative. Using project experience, it is clear that most business cases are “forgotten” after the project kick-off. It is therefore questionable whether a business case will be sufficient for proving the value of EA. The best way is to build an EA value model for your organisation, which contains traceable metrics.
This model needs to starts with the organization’s Vision, goals, strategy and objectives. Consider current project spend, Identify key stakeholders and their concerns. Various measurement models, such as balanced scorecard, should be built in; as well as an effective communication model.
